You don't get it. They won't want to return to this shithole.
Certainly they can come back once in a while for a short visit (e.g. CNY or 3 days to 1 week), but after tasting freedom and opportunities overseas, they won't want to come back for long term.
Why come back? Singapore is now an overcrowded cesspit filled with foreign trash. Everything is not working well or breaking down. Places of nostalgia and historical/cultural value are systematically being destroyed. And it is no longer as safe as it once was.
Retire in Singapore? You might as well live out your twilight years in greenery and serenity, where prices (including that of medical care) are cheap and the pace of living is slow. What's there to do in Singapore when you retire? Golf? Casino? Karaoke and mahjong everyday?
