Maybe the Ah Beng speaks like that?
I still have to, reluctantly but realistically have to, blame the non-English educated parents and grandparents for trying to speak English that turned out to be Singlish to their young and impressionable kids.
If you can't speak it properly, don't try to act smart and spoil your kids' faculties with your (pidgin) version, thinking it helps them learn English faster. Kids that grew up with "ah boy, ah girl, go take that wash," "ah boy, ah girl, come take this down," "ah boy, ah girl, don't naughty wait I beat you then you know," will grow up will these impressioned in their faculties.
The best way to encourage and help your kids to learn good standard English is to stop speaking English to them, unless you're of LKY, JBJ or CSJ standard. Let them be cultivated with the real stuff in school.
