For soccer and horse racing, the gamblers' sentiment affects the odds and human psychology comes into play. People have this tendency to follow a herd instinct and more will bet on the hot favourite making the odds not so good for this bet. Betting on the dark horse will make more sense on the longer term. The dark horse will win less often than the hot favourite but on the long term, the total winning should be higher.

i agree with what you said. dont always follow the herd, try to look around it. find out more about the "hot" money before following the herd. if not sure, better dont follow.

a proper horse racing punter should not bet on every races in the race card as he/she is not possible keep track on everything in a 12 races card which have at least 10 horses in each race.

when i first begin, i was a bet every races novice now i may only one race per race week as the time taken to do "homework" is too long. if the race have no "meat" i wont even bother to bet. i will review races videos on each horse in the race, can watch the same race video again and again just to know how the horse ran, how the horse behave under what conditions or barriers etc etc... then i will google each horse progency to know how the sire fare, optimium distance, mudlark or not...etc..etc... it very tiring but at least in the last two years, i can safetly claim i have not lose any $$ overall to my fellow horse racing punter.

so auntie, dun lump horse racing with casino as it a totally different ball game. i personally think horse racing have many similarities with speculating at shares. the turfclub operate machiam like the sgx as a clearing house for all the punters aka speculators and receive a commission for their services.

yah u r right. illegal bookie will collect bets from all the races and bet on one race. they will bet at turf club. this way they make money both way. but u must be damn choon in your tips from trainers, owners or riders. i think bookies always got insider news.
