We haven’t had an MTF press conference for some time. But rest assured that we are still monitoring the Covid situation closely. Overall the local epidemic situation has been stable. That’s why we are removing the pre-departure tests for nightlife establishments and the exit pass requirement for migrant workers to visit community areas. But we are continuing with indoor masking to protect ourselves. There are also some people including seniors who have not received their 3rd shot or booster. If you are amongst them, please get your jab quickly. Remember the pandemic is not over. Let us continue to take the necessary precautions to protect ourselves and our families.

Lawrence has a productive weekend.

A productive weekend on the sidelines of the Shangri-la Dialogue.
I welcomed ASEAN Secretary General, Dato Lim Jock Hoi yesterday. We had good conversations on the importance of strengthening ASEAN integration and connectivity to seize new opportunities in the green and digital economy to support the region’s post-COVID-19 recovery.
Had a wide-ranging discussion with Australian DPM and Defence Minister, Richard Marles on bilateral defence relations, geopolitical developments, regional security Covid-19 situation in our respective countries and new areas of collaboration.
Also spoke with Borge Brende, World Economic Forum President, on global growth challenges and how to facilitate much needed public-private sector cooperation on issues such as blended finance and the green energy transition.
Pleasure to also meet with Airbus CEO, Guillaume Faury today. We discussed the global outlook for the aviation sector, and spoke about the important role that Singapore, as a major air hub, can play in the development of greener air travel.
Nothing beats face to face meetings. I hope everyone enjoyed their stay in Singapore and had fruitful discussions at the Shangri-la Dialogue.

Lawrence visited Tanjong Katong Secondary School.

Playing soccer during recess or borrowing books from the school library — these were some of my fondest memories back in school.
Took a trip down memory lane when I visited Tanjong Katong Secondary School — known as TK Tech during my time, with 董素华 Tung Soo Hua for Mediacorp Channel 8 “Be My Guest” #我董你
This was the first time I filmed for a lifestyle programme in Chinese. I enjoyed the filming process and also took the chance to share more about Our Limbang estate with everyone. The past few weeks definitely helped improve my Chinese-speaking proficiency

Lawrence thanks seniors.

#PioneerGeneration and #MerdekaGeneration seniors will be receiving their MediSave top-ups in July.
Mr Leong and Mr Raden are recipients who have benefited from the top-ups. Mr Leong will receive $250 as a PG senior while Mr Raden will receive $200 as a MG senior. These top-ups can help to defray the costs of medical treatment and pay for selected medical expenses, which allow for Mr Leong and Mr Raden to dedicate more time to what matter most to them — volunteering at their local communities and spending time with their loved ones.
A big thank you to our seniors who have helped shaped Singapore into what we are today — we will not forget your hard work and sacrifice!

Singapore and Brunei share a very unique and special relationship, which is built on a firm foundation. We cooperate closely in many areas such as defence, education, economic, and health.
We discussed ways to strengthen our relationship, including through more exchanges at the government and people-to-people level. Wishing Dato Erywan a fruitful and enjoyable stay as this is also his first official visit to Singapore!

Very happy to meet Sri Mulyani Indrawati in Singapore, and to reciprocate her warm hospitality during my visit to Indonesia last month!
We discussed geopolitical developments, bilateral cooperation in customs and taxation; and emerging areas like the digital economy and sustainable finance. We also covered Indonesia’s G20 Presidency and ways to strengthen global pandemic preparedness and recovery.
Happy to work closely with Sri Mulyani and to advance cooperation across this wide range of issues. Look forward to reconnecting at the upcoming G20 meeting in Bali in July!

Had the honour of meeting Bundespräsident Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Federal President of Germany, earlier today. President Steinmeier is a familiar friend, having last visited Singapore in 2017.
We had a fruitful discussion on many topics of mutual interest, including managing global challenges such as inflation, rising energy and food prices. We also have close cooperation in education, defence and economy.
It is remarkable that despite being thousand of kilometres apart, Singapore and Germany share a common worldview, based on mutual respect and international law. This forms the basis of the friendship between our countries, as well as between ASEAN and the EU, that continues to grow from strength to strength.
I have always enjoyed my visits to Germany over the years, and look forward to working with my German counterparts to take our bilateral relations to new heights!
