I have been to the old lady's home a few times. She stays along Jalan Arif in a 3-story semi-d with her grandchildren. Nice people, simple and kindly and no airs being of humble background.

It a myth that spore is awash with cash. It very difficult to withdraw big amount of cash from bank as the branch may not have enough cash in its reserve. I once try to withdraw 300k from uob branch in IP but the branch manager came out to apologise that the branch dont have so much cash on hand. It was around 10.30am only so lan lan had to go main branch to withdraw. Then the bank will ask many questions regarding why need to withdraw so much cash, very troublesome.
