John 3:16 is at Funan...their prices a wee bit pricey isn't?? SIM LIM SQUARE/LUCKY PlAZA...is a big, No!, No!..

I agree. Another problem is some manufacturer don't list their MSRP (Nikon does) so it is hard to know what the market rate is. SG sucks in this sense.

Secondly, there is a lack on online store - try looking for electronics prices - cameras, laptops, ipod on the net, there is none. Eg. Challenger has a website but don't list the prices.

With one exception, Courts (surprise, surprise Courts beats all other retailers in this sense) has prices listed in the website. You can find out the prices of electronics inc cameras in the website.

CP is another 1 of few trustable 1...but their pricing can be on the higher side...usually few 10s to about 100 diff...at least they won't sell u a $600 products for $1200...$650-$700 maybe...

Few yrs ago...i was there looking for some lenses...a lady was there before me looking for a better tripod...sales staff start pushing those carbon fiber 1 which is obviously beyond her nids...end up she walk off w/o buying...de sales staff start bad mouthing her after she left...i got abit pissed off too so i oso scoot w/o buying anything...

Pricey...not the last time when i looking for the Sigma 150mm Macro...John sell it $150 cheaper then MSColor...cheapest quoted was frm Orient Photo but i understand those r parallel imported frm HK/China...

Anyway, SLRevolution, opp J3:16 is a good place to buy cameras, their prices are one of the cheapest in Funan, but somehow i just keeps going to J3:16, LOL

I recall that Cathay's first store was in Bras Basah Rd. Over the years they've obviously prospered. May not be the cheapest but glad that honest businesses can survive in Spore

simlim retailers operate in similar manner as durian seller, except their goods are gadgets & not tough husked durians. the salemen r survived by very minimal fixed salaries, some r daily or hourly rated salary, some minimal or no CPF. the incentive is profit sharing from their daily sales. upon hitting specific quota for the day, then the ratio for the profit sharing is at different scale.

im not surprised if they manage to escalate the selling price at 2folds the mkt price.

But of course, big hardware like whole computers must pay, but very cheap. Sim Lim "offer" S$1,200, with him not yet bargain already S$1,000 for same model and specs. Bargain somemore S$900 also can. Delivery, installaton and onsite maintenance warranty free somemore. Where to find?

I remember you are some type of wp helper or something. I mean if you're part of his gang and his friend of course he won't be so calculative. Outsiders he will charge them. You shouldn't mislead ppl like this.
