Should there be a law criminalising extra-marital affairs?

There were rumours recently of a new Chinese law that criminalises extra-marital affairs, with unfaithful spouses facing potential criminal charges and having to pay compensation to their other halves.

Actually in Singapore law, one can sue for compensation from the party that causes the marriage to fail.

This is nothing new in China. In the old days they drown the women for having extra marital affairs.

why even bother to fine for that matter; extra martial affairs is driven by necessity when there is inadequacy in a marriage. No marriages are that perfect in life. Its rather a moral issue than a legal issue.

You may criminalise prostitution as under the law in many countries However, they are always demand for it. Or even eliminate escort agencies all together if that also become an issue.

Not compensation but can make the third party foot part of the legal cost.
