Should I move or not?

If I have passive income like you derived from Singapore properties, I will happily go into early retirement mode, or semi-retirement mode and stay in JB. Then work flexi-hours that does not require me to be metal sardine during peak periods.

Yes that is what I am planning. Keeping fingers crossed that I can get state consent pending a bumi release letter.
Rental income is not guaranteed so I may end up semi retiring....

Wow cool! I wish you all the best and may things go smoothly for you!

I will be facing the same dilemma if I get my state consent for my Austin Height semi d. Keen to stay in Jb and rent out my Sg properties, a terrace and a MM for passive income and send my sons to Austin Height international school right at my doorstep. Their fees are quite reasonable about S$700 per month for both my sons one in kindergarten and the other in primary standard. Hope to be able to retire there as cannot stand the commute either. Problem is hubby prefers Sg school.

If you r going to work in Sg , then I suppose you can fetch your children to Sg school since it is on the way?

my working hours are not regular so its difficult for me and the children as well. i have seen Tenby International at Setia Eco Garden and i must say its quite impressive in terms of their curriculums, ccas, facilities and space. there is another empty plot of land next to the school about the size of 1-2 football field for future expansion so u can imagine the space.

If you can afford to pay school fees like 50 to 60k ringgint per year for school fees alone, then welcome. That is around 5K Ringgit per month. Such is around sgd 2k per month.

If you can afford that, why not ? If you can't, stick to MOE school in Singapore

I don't think the fees are Rm5k per month, more likely to be Rm1k to Rm2k plus per month for the middle income family in Msia to be able to afford. This is also the range of the fees of Tenby and Fairview etc international schools mentioned by forummers here. If it is Rm5k, not possible for middle income family to be able to afford as they still have to pay car and housing loans and other living expenses, especially if more than one child family.

Their salaries in KL is similar to Spore except it is Rm, so unless the parent is working in Spore and have the 2.6x multiplier effect or have other sources of income besides salary, not possible for middle income to attend international school charging Rm5k fees. But if parent working in Spore and child study in KL international school, then that is also not ideal as living apart.

I heard there are subsidies for attending enrichment programmes at school, so that is another advantage of attending MOE school?

There are a lot of hidden subsidies (e.g. bursaries and waiver of fees) for studying in MOE schools, especially if you are from lower income group.

Yap , this is one of the things I think Singapore govt do quite well.

Looking at the fees, I realise I belong to the lower income group :(

Senior School - Boarding - $150,000 RM per annum
(Lower Sixth and Upper Sixth/Year 12 and Year 13)

If you live in Nusajaya you don't need any boarding do you? That save you quite a lot without accommodation.

Still the same reaction from me

i've found one international school which is quite near to east ledang and their fees are reasonable too. any feedbacks from parents?

One of my neighbour children attend that school. They give very good feedback. Swimming lesson and tennis lesson as standard. Don't think you can ask for more for that price. I don't think Singapore public school have swimming lesson.

The fees structure are here. I take the highest grade at Rm 8600 per term. It will set you back around Rm 25800 per yr. It will set you back by Rm 2150 minimum per month. Imagine you have to sent 3 kids to school....12 yrs each.

That will cost you a bomb !

Lots cheaper than Singapore International school. Lots of land for the children to run around.

Not swimming lesson or tennis in my kid's SG school. I don't think they have space for that.

I just signed up my son for swimming lessons in his Sg primary school which is partly subsidised. MOE SSC pays for S$80 for 8 lessons and we pay S$60 for 6 lessons. It is held in a public swimming complex.

Hmmm I remember going to public swimming pools for my lessons with my classmates, and polluting the water with our urine at the same time :p

I've made a quick calculation. To send your kids to Tenby International from year 1 right up to year 10 will set you back by RM180,600 per kid. that's cheaper than COE, isn't it? :D

Sg sch 60/yr. Y think so hard. :p cheaper than carpark fee per mth.
