I believe that the USA does not want to support the rebels as they are link to AL Qaeda. However some in Europe and members of USA Government want to support the rebels as they dont like Assad. So Obama no choice to say will support,,now the ship sink and goods lost..means the Obama gets away with not wanting to support the rebels,,and less weapons for AL Qaeda.

If the rebels win, Syria will be in a mess for a long time..as right now this Geneva meeting cant even be conducted as the rebels cant even agree on the leadership. Its going to be another Iraq and Afghanistan again..also if I am not wrong, Syria has a Christian Minority that Assad have looked after..if the rebels win,,Most likely Christians will be massacred there.

the vessel has broken into 2 parts which are still floating quite stably (meaning had not sunk) and salvage operation is underway to tow them to port...
it appears to be a structural failure as there is no sign of fire or explosion.
