Nelson Lee, a private psychiatrist who treated Shane Todd two months before his death, said he diagnosed the 31-year-old American with major depression
I smell fish here....is this the standard practice of doctors to let patient with major depression go just like that?
i think the todds still have to pay their share of court costs... i don't know if their lawyers are charging, but if they are, total cost oer day in court will be about $15000- $18000 ++. im not god, so i don't pontificate,i get the figures because those are the figures i myself am looking at...

Tearful Father of Shane Todd Says Family Trusts Court
A tearful Rick Todd publicly apologized on behalf of his wife who had called the Singapore court system “corrupt” as a much-watched inquiry into the death of their son, an American scientist working on sensitive research, finished its fourth day.
“We’d just seen a lot of pictures of our son – our dead son – and it was a very emotional morning. We’re sorry the word ‘corrupt’ came out, and we have faith in the Singapore court system,” he said Thursday to reporters.
His wife Mary had called the Singapore court process “corrupt” when speaking to reporters earlier Thursday.
Shane Todd’s body was found in his apartment last June 24, days after he had quit his job with the Singapore-run Institute of Microelectronics. Singapore police and forensic investigators have presented evidence to the court inquiry suggesting that Mr. Todd hanged himself. Mr. Todd’s parents say they believe he was murdered and will have a chance to lay out their case next week, which is the second and final week of the inquiry. A coroner’s determination of the cause of death is expected in late June.
On Thursday, a psychiatrist who had treated Shane Todd told the court he hadn’t seen signs Mr. Todd was contemplating suicide.
Nelson Lee, a private psychiatrist who treated Shane Todd two months before his death, said he diagnosed the 31-year-old American with major depression.
But Mr. Lee told the court that at the time of that meeting, he did not consider Mr. Todd a suicide risk.
“No suicidal ideation, no plans of self-harm,” Mr. Lee wrote in an April 2012 letter to the physician who had referred Mr. Todd to him.
Lawyers for the Todd family said Thursday that evidence found in Shane’s apartment showed that he had been packing and making arrangements to sell furniture. Their questions in court focused on indications that Mr. Todd’s stress and anxiety was job-related, which could have been relieved when Mr. Todd left his job at the Institute for Microelectronics.
In addition, on June 21, three days before his body was found, Mr. Todd was offered a job by Nuvotronics, a Radford, Va.-based developer of radio frequency and defense technology, according to a letter presented in court Thursday. He accepted the job offer.
A California-based technology company rejected Mr. Todd’s job application around the same time, Mrs. Todd told The Wall Street Journal.
The inquiry continues Friday.
do tell us all u blind fucker. if America not big fuck, u think SG will bother to investigate
PAP has fucked u big time.
america always has this big fuck mentality. when things happen to them, they get so victimised and the world must sympathise with them. think 911. think boston bombing. it is as if only they are suffering and other parts of the world are fine and dandy.
PHUI!
wtf.. have some empathy. you are talking about a young life lost.
do u need to use such title?
you are just pathetic, get a life!![]()
america is the land of conspiracies. they can't handle the truth even when its staring them in the face.
That's rubbish. That's human rights for you. They are spending their hard earned money to pursue a closure for their son's death. If your favorite govt wants to open the floodgates to foreigners, they will have to deal with the human rights issue most developed countries have.

An angmo cannot take the stressful working environment in Singapore and took his own life. Simple as that. The parents still in denial and cannot accept the fact that their son cannot make the grade. The parents are hallucinating that his son is so important that someone want their son dead. Same like they hallucinating about their imaginary invisible friend from above looking after them.
We dont know who is footing the bill for all this. And why in the first place an American gets such treatment.
Todd's parents were made used by certain politicians to score points for themselves. These are small fries compared to those who pushed bush junior to declare war on Iraq.america always has this big fuck mentality. when things happen to them, they get so victimised and the world must sympathise with them. think 911. think boston bombing. it is as if only they are suffering and other parts of the world are fine and dandy.

Todd Case-if it murder due to attempt transfer of technology then why America praising Singapore as key partner to counter China? If the Todd are correct, what else can they do? Topple the government?
Shane Todd inquiry: IME and Huawei collaboration limited to tests, preliminary talks
Witness Yuan Li, Shane Todd's colleague, is seen leaving the subordinate courts on May 17, 2013. He is one of three of Shane Todd's colleagues at IME who told the inquiry that the institute was not involved in any military or sensitive research involving the semiconductor material Gallium nitride (GaN), as suggested in a February article by the Financial Times on his death.

Dr Susai Lawrence Selvaraj, Dr Yuan Li and Dr Wang Wei Zhu from Dr Todd's GaN research group at IME, said such sensitive research was not possible as their team was in its infancy when Dr Todd was employed, and the operating speed of the devices that IME was focusing on was too slow for military applications.
SINGAPORE - Colleagues of a US scientist found hanged in Singapore last year told a coroner's inquiry Friday he was not involved in projects with military applications and was never asked to compromise any country's national security.
High-tech researcher Shane Todd, whose death under disputed circumstances last June sparked global media attention, was part of a research team working on gallium-nitride (GaN), a semiconductor that can be used in radar and satellite communications.
Todd's parents allege their son was murdered after he had grown anxious the project he was working on for the Institute of Microelectronics (IME) was linked to a Chinese telecoms firm and could endanger US national security.
Medical experts have said that an autopsy report point to a suicide, but the family, backed by senior US officials, asked for a deeper probe.
"During his time at the IME, Shane was never asked to do anything that would compromise the national security of any country," Patrick Lo, deputy executive director for research at the institute, told the inquest on its fifth day.
"Shane was also never asked to obtain restricted or classified information and to provide them to other countries," said Lo, who was Todd's immediate superior.
The coroner's inquiry, which is due to last until May 28, will determine the cause of his death.
At the time of his death at age 31, Todd had just finished a stint with the IME, where he was part of a team working on GaN.
His former colleagues however told the inquiry there was nothing sinister about the project and that research on GaN is commonplace in the industry.
