rather than explaining that he volunteered to take up this post instead of other (better?) offers, it would then expose the begging question as to whether he was the right man to do the job in view of all these fuckups, resulting in opening a can of worms up his sorry arse. it was also to cement his maka-hai "hou yum kong" statement in aging 5 years in a 2-year assignment, hoping that sinkies will accept this as part and parcel of transport improvements.

When Khaw was Health Minister , he was really passionate about his work. I have seen his dedication and resolve to solve difficult problems. This was evident in the way he handled the SAR crisis. But after he was moved out of Health Ministry and rotated around , I sense that his passion and his sharpness was waning . The worst was when he took over from Lui Tuck Yu as the next Transport minister, he was sort of like 'bo bian' taking up the role. It was apparent in the recent episodes of flooding in the MRT and yesterday, train collision.

He has somehow lost the spark and passion in his work. He doesn't go around and take the proactive steps to resolve the issue.

I do recall his time in MOH. He stopped cluster CEOs from raising prices of medicines to compete on profits and even moved one out. He was respected for his work then.

Frankly he has been handed a poisoned chalice. Lui was smart enough to walk knowing full well that Temasek cannot be touched.

Law Minister K. Shanmugam’s statement on yesterday’s MRT collision has attracted widespread criticism from netizens online, who fumed over Shanmugam’s remarks that Khaw has improved public transport here.

Two MRT trains collided at Joo Koon station yesterday morning, causing at least 29 people to sustain injuries. At a joint conference called to explain preliminary findings on the collision contact between two trains, SMRT and LTA revealed that the “inadvertent” disabling of a software protection feature caused one train to hit another stalled train at Joo Koon station.

Acknowledging that the “recent MRT related issues have sorely tested the public mood,” the Law Minister said in a Facebook post late last night, “People naturally ask why these problems are recurring. They are fed up, despite the overall improvement in transport.”

He also lent his support to Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan. Asserting that it “has been a tough 2 years for Boon Wan,” Shanmugam vouched that he has every confidence that Khaw will “sort things out” and “deal with the challenges.”

During his time at MOH, Khaw Boon Wan was a complete fucker! Ask the doctors. Khaw's forte and priority is the bottom line. Dollars and cents. Profits and losses. He treats health care professionals like SHIT! I am guessing with the SMRT staff he probably is more concerned with their salaries and not running over budget on manpower costs etc. Not surprised he got those workers killed.

Perhaps when they were looking for a replacement for Cleopatra, many siamz when approached for fear that in the event they "outshine" Cleopatra the mountain behind Cleopatra would lose face. However, it's more likely that most people approached would have thought it was mission impossible.

So the term "volunteered" should really mean "kay khiang" and "parachuted", anointed.
