Jumbo Group to acquire Kok Kee Wanton Noodle for $2.1m

SINGAPORE - Food and beverage establishment Jumbo Group announced on Thursday (Nov 26) its proposed acquisition of popular hawker stall Kok Kee Wanton Noodle for $2.1 million.

It will take a 75 per cent stake in the 35-year-old wonton noodle stall. The remaining 25 per cent will be held by Kok Kee's owner Leong Goh Lian.

Once the acquisition is complete, Kok Kee will become an indirect subsidiary of the Jumbo Group, which will have exclusive rights to develop a franchise system for Kok Kee in Singapore and overseas.

800k is it he own the stall property ? Else how to sell at this price? For people to buy then rent out at 5 to 10k per mth ?

Amoy Street hawker centre is a ghost town on weekends. It relies heavily on the CBD wage slaves to dine there on weekdays.

Most stalls there don't open on weekend and PH, better just save the electricity. :roflmao:

He is selling his secret 'recipe' ...like he massages the fish, adding the right amount of msg etc. $800k is cheap if he provides a profit guarantee for 5 years.

If he is selling vegetarian food. He will still be in robust health well into his 100s.

This cheebye critic wasn't impressed leh...

Tale of Two Fish Soup Stalls @ Amoy Hawker Centre. Han Kee & Piao Ji

Wasn't my intention to do a comparison but since I ate at both Amoy food centre fish soup stalls back to back, why not right...? Truth be told, I feel both are just "ok only". But, since I prefer my fish soup to be cheng cheng (clear and clean tasting), I would opt for Han Kee the next time. This time I shall go for the $7 serving.

The best hawker centres have a balanced mix of customers:

1) Residents living nearby.
2) Workers (blue and white collar) working nearby.
3) Tourists.

Two out of three categories: average.
One out of three categories; terrible.

It should also have some stalls which ensure that the place does not become dead after sundown. For example, satay and BBQ seafood.

have not eaten there in a long time. Is this the one with the super duper long queue everytime? can easily wait 45 minutes queuing each time
