The Islamic Religious Council of Singapore has responded to an online post that took issue with a hijab-wearing worker selling pork satay at a pasar malam at Woodlands.

Facebook user Victor Shafeeq Peters said in his post that he was concerned to see a woman wearing a hijab working at a stall that was selling pork satay at a pasar malam at Vista Point in Woodlands.

He also shared a video of himself confronting the workers at MBK Thai Express and asking the woman if she is a Muslim and why she was selling pork.

He included the conversation he had with the stall's boss on the phone and told her 'Muslims cannot sell pork'.

He is heard saying: "How can you do this?"

He then tells her to tell her workers to take down the menu showing pork items.

In his post, he added that he was concerned that other Muslims would assume the stall is halal after seeing the hijab-wearing employee at the stall.

In response to a Stomp query, Muis said they have received several queries regarding this incident and visited MBK Thai Express stall on Tuesday (May 9).

"Based on our visit, there were no halal claims made," a Muis spokesman said.

"The religion of the person serving or preparing the food does not determine its Halal status.

Pork should be declared halal as the animals are fed grains instead of swill.

If she is a true Minah she would not sell pork in the 1st place. However if she is indon cewek... She will sell pork, cook pork, clean pork, buy pork...just won't eat it. In the past..indons were less anal about halal this n that as majority of food was not halal in the 1st place
 
This is so stupid. The shop did not break any laws - so if U have a lady server wearing a Tudong, the shop cannot serve pork?
By the same logic the cashiers in NTUC cannot be Malay? What idiocy is this? Then again U look at his name and U can tell he is damned confused to start with.
He cannot blame others for his closed mind and irrational "logic".
 
Muslim-only pasar malams are a terrible idea. You Muslim snowflakes can have your annual Ramadan safe space at Geylang Serai, leave other places the fuck alone. :rolleyes:

The issue is that vast majority of moslem hawkers themselves don't want to pay money for the halal cert. They also hire a tudung frontline staff to give the impression that the food handlers or business owner is "100% moslem".

There's no law in Singapore that forbids moslems from selling pork. Many F&B already have moslem staff serving pork dishes and alcohol. So what's the muud's issue here?
 
This stupid halal and the fucking expectations that marts must given special treatment is ridiculous. It’s spreading from martland and should be stopped. We r not a Muslim country. They can fuck off back to martland.
