Just kids having fun. We used to cycle just like that a long time ago.
During your era, Singapore population was 2.5 millions. You can close your eyes to cycle in Orchard Road without any worry. Now, every 1 meter with eyes wide opened, you will still risk knocking someone down.
Yes my time I cycled to school in mornings almost 20km and the journey almost an hour. Lornie highway along the way. The ride was both scenic and enjoyable and at no time dangerous or impeding traffic flow.
Do it now only if you have a death wish
Lornie road (old) has now been shrunk to 2 lanes each direction instead of 3 lanes (previously).
They have now used the road to construct a very very good PCN for joggers and cyclists.
Very very serene and extremely calming everytime I cycle between CP4 and CP5 on the map above. The only thing is that between CP 4 and CP5, the track is undulating, so it can be quite taxing on a 16inch wheel bike (eg. Brompton) compared to larger wheel size bike...

The authorities should concentrate on ensuring that drivers actually have decent eyesight rather than wasting public money on arrest and prosecution of harmless cyclists. How about a regular eyesight check for motorists. This simple requirement will save lives whereas going after cyclists is just a publicity stunt.

So to summarize, it is not the vehicle that causes accidents. It is the driver behind the wheel. A car is just a car.
Give an idiot a car and he will kill some innocent bystander. However if you put him on bicycle chances of him killing someone else is a lot lower. If anything he will kill himself and that's karma at work.
A good example to illustrate this is the Lucky Plaza incident. Innocent lives were lost while the driver was unscathed. Had he been on a bicycle chances are he would have broken himself and the maids would have escaped with just cuts and bruises.

Not always the case. A automobile might attempt to dodge the irresponsible cyclist before colliding with the busy maids' area. The weekend congregation of maids is also the source of the issues.
