His wife, Ms Du Jing Lei, 30, said: "The night before, my son's appetite was still good.

"When I took my baby to the nanny's home, he was still very happy."

The couple, both Malaysians, told Shin Min it would have cost $2,000 every month to send their child to a childcare centre as they are not Singapore citizens.

They had engaged the nanny, who wanted to be known only as Madam Liu, as she charges only $900 a month for her services.

The couple found Madam Liu through an online website and decided to hire her, as the nanny claimed to have more than 10 years of experience in early childhood education.

This had been the best option for the couple as their household monthly income was only about $4,000, they told Shin Min.

When reporters visited Madam Liu's home in Sengkang, she said she never expected such a situation to happen.

In addition to the six-month-old boy, she was also babysitting two other children - a one-year-old and a nine-month-old.

Madam Liu said that the six-month-old boy had fallen asleep in his playpen near the living room at about 3pm on Dec 28.

At 6.15pm, she was about to help the baby boy take a shower when she discovered that half his face had turned purple and that he had stopped breathing.

Madam Liu said there were no blankets or pillows in the playpen.

She tried to wake the baby but he was unresponsive. She then called the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) for assistance.

Madam Liu said: "I followed the instructions (of paramedics) to press against his chest and gently massage his back until SCDF could arrive at the scene. But it was useless."

Since the boy's death, Madam Liu said she has not been in contact with his parents.

She said this was because investigations are ongoing and she hopes to contact them after everyone's emotions have stabilised.

Madam Liu said: "I know if I call them now, there will be unpleasant words (spoken). All of this, I can accept. Even if I have to get down on my knees and apologise, I am willing to.

"The incident happened in my house. This is a human life, I also did not want this to happen."

Accidents happen. The boy turned in his sleep and could not move back over.

This is a weak baby. Such things happen in the past even with very experience nanny.

The nanny should have checked on the small fart regularly during those 3 hours (from 3pm to 6.15pm) to ensure that he's ok. But she left him alone instead.

How often is "regularly"?

They're still young they can easily make more babies to replace the one they lost.

Maybe every 15 mins? If that small fart got suffocated during the short interval, then he's destined to go. Anyway, he doesn't look like a smart chap. Probably will grow up and live an average and mediocre life. No loss to society.

It is fated that this baby is not meant to be his parents' child. Definitely his death was caused by suffocating when he turned over. This can also happen during the night when he sleeps, so who is able to monitor the baby's sleep every few minutes during the night. I believe not even his own parents.

Hopefully, with facial recognition technology, manufacturers will make a camera monitoring sensor system to alert and prevent such an incident in the future. Hmm... maybe I should go and look to sponsor/invest into such a company and be rich. Almost every new parents will want to buy this product. This is also making good and morally correct use of facial recognition technology, unlike the fucking CCP which is extrapolating this technology for all the wrong reason.

U are one miserable fucking bastard. To make fun of a young infant’s death as if he was a disposable napkin is just beyond the pale. U better pray hard that misfortune does not fall on your family.

Cannot say like that. Must always look ahead and think of ways to overcome the problem with modern technologies. This is how I continue to learn and progress. Where possible, never give up without a good fight.

I don't think he's "making fun" of the situation all he's doing is pointing out that in the grand scheme of things it is not a serious incident.

A child died.

Not a serious incident? Oh I guess a nuclear plant going off is just a minor hiccup? A world war is just a slight annoyance?
