Back in 2009, when all the discussions were going on on with the Serangoon dormitory, below was a short statement from MP of Aljunied GRC:
SPECIAL ISSUE UPDATE ON FOREIGN WORKERS DORMITORY
Dated : 04-12-2009
Dear Residents
I wish to update you again on the impending operation of the Foreign Workers’ Dormitory at the old Serangoon Garden Technical School site. Recently, Maxi Consultancy, an experienced dorm operator, orientated myself and the various sub-committees on the facilities and operational details. Such discussions enabled us to propose further refinements. I am satisfied that Maxi has made great efforts to address our concerns and assured us of an ongoing dialogue.
Once the dorm is operational from Dec 09, the sub-committees and I will continue to monitor the situation. As we will remain in close touch with Maxi, it is unlikely that problems, if any, will be significant. Nonetheless, let me express my thanks to the volunteers who have worked tirelessly and residents who have provided feedback. Let’s continue to work together and look out for each other.
With best wishes for a Blessed 2010.
Yours sincerely
Mrs Lim Hwee Hua
Minister, Prime Minister's Office
Second Minister for Finance and Transport
MP for Aljunied GRC
Mrs Lim mentioned Maxi Consultancy was an experienced dormitory operator, but take a look at the MOM list of approved dormitories, Maxi Consultancy only listed Central Staff Apartments (located at No. 60 Boundary Close) as the only dormitory it is operating.....The question then would be how did Mrs Lim derived that Maxi Consultancy is an experienced dormitory operator when it has not operated any other dormitory besides this one at Serangoon? How did she know about their track record when she made the statement back in 2009?
On what basis was the $2 million dollar access road (which was 200m long) approved to be built using tax payers' money? Who are the owners of Maxi Consultancy? We need transparency.
