Sembawang Soccer Academy ordered to pay more than $1.2 million for breach of contract

The Sembawang Soccer Academy (SSA) has been ordered by the High Court to pay 814,059 euros (S$1.29 million), plus interest, to the Genova International School of Soccer (GISS).
The SSA had contracted GISS to train 25 local youth footballers over a three-month stint in Italy last year.
The GISS filed a lawsuit against the SSA when the latter failed to make payment.
During the trial yesterday morning, the case was decided by “default judgment” in favour of the Italian football school as SSA director Ferdinand Robert failed to turn up.
