Selfish teen acts blur and refuses to give up seat to woman with toddler

STOMPer Nelson is disgusted with this teen who ignored a woman carrying a toddler and standing right in front of him. The teen refused to give up the priority seat in the 6-station journey from Toa Payoh to Yishun.

In his email, the STOMPer says:

"This teen is abusing the priority seat.

"These photos were taken on the North South train on Oct 22 at around 4.30pm at Yishun Station.

"A women was standing in front of him carrying her toddler, and this teen sitting on the priority seat seems to be 'acting blur'.

"I observed him for most of the journey from Toa Payoh to Yishun, this teen simply refused to give up his seat. He continued to look at his handphone and PSP.

"This teen seems to be only 17-18 years old, and didn't give up his seat to the woman in her 40s, who is having a hard time carrying her toddler.

"I'm really very disgusted by this sight.

"I am truly saddened by the behaviour of Singaporean kids nowadays."

I think that both sides are displaying bad behaviours. The kid that the woman is carrying is too big to be called a toddler, should be able to stand and just hold hands with her mother for safety. Pampered on like that, he'll grow up to be like the teenager who refused to give up the seat to his mother.

U know some young people will only give up their seats to people of the same species? Last week while going to work saw a student sitting at 1 of these piority seats. When the train stopped at Yishun and an old chinese lady( around 70 ) came onboard and stood next to her she just ignored her but later at Kathib station another not so old malay lady( around 50 ) came up she quickly stood up and offer her her seat.

The teen has got all the rights to keep his seat as anyone else on the train. he is also a paying customer. Don't have to listen to writings on the wall....they are not commandments to follow.

If the mother is tired and needs a seat bad enough, she can always open her mouth and ask for it. She has only herself to blame if she stood the whole journey and does not have the guts to open her mouth.

What goes around comes around..when ah beng with the PSP was young, his mother carried him till he was 10, and another ah beng was sitting on the bus, playing with, then hand held games; the ones with the stick men dropping from buildings, parachutes etc..

It is a circle game...........come full circle!!

Sinkapore is truly a sick country. You have pple like the mother, who purposely carry her kid so that it looks like she needs a seat. I would ignore her too. Her kid should learn to stand by himself. I paid for my ticket too you know.

If there's a genuine person who needs the seat, that person should learn to ASK the teen for the seat. I bet he will give it up.... he'll look very bad saying no to a genuine person in need. Even an ah tiong or ah neh will give it up.

If it was LKY, he would send his "followers" to make sure the whole car was "free" for his use. Its the Spore meritocracy Lee way

The train as you know is public transport ! Everyone pays a similiar price !

So everyone gotta be equal with exception for senior citizens !
