Students were caned and expelled for taking upskirt images of teacher

John L. Tan·Sunday, October 30, 2016

The students were wrong of course for doing what they did. But our educators are equally wrong--albeit in a different way--for caning and expelling the secondary students. If such punitive actions are all they can do, then our educators need to be educated. Educators are entrusted with the job of educating our children, which include social behavior. In the face of difficult situations, educators must discharge their responsibilities in the interest of their wards. In this case, caning and expelling the students will only harm them further. It does not help the students or society but merely rid the particular school of one thorny responsibility.

Incidentally, when a student is expelled, has the principal broken the law pertaining the Compulsory Education Act?

Nothing interesting downstairs to see. They shouldn't be expelled. They should be given a second chance.

Parents should also be responsible for their children moral upbringing too. Every parent should not think the school should be responsible for their children discipline.

Otherwise the state may take over and it ain't gonna look pretty.

If this JohnTan gets elected in an election, I worry.

Any one who had a decent primary education should be able to check the Singapore Statutes up and read up on the Compulsory Education Act and consequently understand that this Act covers primary education only.

Maybe suspension is a better alternative.

More importantly, where are the pics?

That's why I never supported SDP.

Their left-leaning liberal policies are the sort that slaps criminals on the wrists and promote the lawlessness that we see in Sweden, Germany and many parts of Europe today.

He is wrong about that but he did put it in the form of a question.

In any case, his other points in the paragraph above the question, are spot on.

Not everybody has all the fact. He was asking a question. Try asking this question of the PAP MPs, see if they know it.

And if your vote is so frivolous, you can save your vote for the PAP.

The moral compass of the child can't be set by the education system alone, can it? :o:o:o

If not then who? So many lowborn pagan sinkie families with questionable morals, should we leave it up to them to decide a society's norms?

It's a combination of parenting, education and self-awareness. That's why we should ask who are their parents and teachers.

There's order in chaos. Trust the populace to decide the norms.

How about foreigners? In their countries, rapes and upskirts are the norm. As are breakdowns and cutting corners. Should we follow their norms? Who decides?
