Screams and explosions heard from Pasir Ris flat as it catches fire

Several STOMPers alerted STOMP of this fire at Pasir Ris Drive 1, Block 536.
STOMPer Nesan was at Pasir Ris MRT when he noticed "lots of black smoke rising" and heard "small explosions and screams".
He wrote:
"The neighbours of the affected unit went up to the balcony a number of times. The SCDF had not arrived yet."
STOMPer Leroy spotted the flat on fire as he was passed by onboard a bus on his way home at 530pm.
He managed to get a closer look when the bus stopped, and saw that the flat on fire was Block 536 along Pasir Ris Drive 1.
He related over the phone to STOMP:
"The fire engine had just pulled up and there were already a lot of passers-by gathered at the scene."
STOMPer Oscar described the scene in his email:
"The fire caused 2 windows to break and plunged to the ground. One of the windows landed on an unlucky Mazda 6 and dented the car. The fire spread wildly into the kitchen area.
"2 workers tried to help the Civil Defence as the fire hydrant seemed too old and difficult to unlock."
STOMPer Ren also sent us this video of the fire. The STOMPer's attention was caught by the "fire blowing out of a room in the apartment".
Another STOMPer, Isaac, who saw the fire, said:
"I was alerted by my housekeeper to a fire while I was resting at home on this Youth Day afternoon. "I could see from my kitchen window the raging fire in the flat, which was quite a distance away from my home.
"I could also see the blinking lights of the fire engines below the flat.
"By the time I was done taking photos, the fire seemed to have been put out.
"The fire was at Block 536 on Pasir Ris Drive 1.
"I hope the occupants of the flat and other residents at the block are safe."
SCDF said it received a call at 5.26pm informing us of the fire. The fire involved contents in the living room of a flat on the 11th floor of the abovementioned block.
SCDF deployed two fire bikes, one fire engine, one red rhino and 2 support vehicles.
All the residents on the 11th floor of the block were evacuated by SCDF officers.
The fire was put out within 15 minutes, using one water jet.
No one was injured in the fire.
