Schoolgirl kidnapped, raped

KUALA TERENGGANU: A 16-year-old schoolgirl was abducted and alleged to have been raped by three men known to her brother, police said Tuesday.

Trengganu Criminal Investigation Department chief ACP K Manoharan said the girl was abducted from her home at Kampung Belukar Gerek at about 4am Monday.

A man had knocked on the door and, when her 54-year-old mother opened it, rushed in and pulled the girl by the hand to a car and drove away with her, he told reporters here.

Later that morning, her elder sister received a call from a 14-year-old schoolgirl who told her that the abducted girl was all right, Manoharan said.

He said the girl told her further that her 31-year-old brother was with the three men, aged 20 to 27, who are from Pasir Mas and Bachok in Kelantan and Kuala Lipis in Pahang.

Manoharan said that police traced the phone call to a house in Kampung Pasir Panjang here and arrested two of the suspects at about 12.20pm the same day.

The third suspect was arrested soon after when he sent the girl home, he said.

Manoharan said the girl alleged that she was raped by the three men, who are believed to have problems with her brother.

The thee suspects have been remanded for four days for investigations.

Police have also detained the girl's brother to help them investigate.

Manoharan said that police were trying to ascertain the connection of the 14-year-old girl, who was detained and later released, to the suspects. - Bernama
