Buy a Nokia (Symbian/S40, not Windows) phone and you won't get any of these problems.

Cheap, durable, decent UI, lag-free, stable, full-featured, legendary battery life (about 30 days of 3G standby time, try and beat that with iPhones and Android).

Plenty of apps and games to choose from.
Personally, I think that if you need an app to pick a restaurant, find available carpark lots, book air/movie tickets, watch movies (Netflix) etc, you're probably too reliant on your device. It's like a schoolboy being too reliant on his calculator and he will eventually forget how to do simple mental calculations.
