Sammyboy forummers attack the person rather than the issue

Yup, spot on. The fish rot starts from the head. We have Our Great Leader scolding us and calling us daft and stupid, for not listening to his arguments.

Let's say we are all great copycats.

The problem lies not with the forum but Singaporeans by and large.

More often than not, a person who attacks the poster rather than the issue does so to hide his inability to address the issue raised.

Many who lack the ability to focus on the issue will throw in a spanner just to spin the topic to fit into his personal agenda.

It's all ego at work. Everyone wants to appear that he is smarter than the rest. You can relate it to poor upbringing.

I don't think you read the thread. In fact that there were constructive arguments both sides. There was the usual sarcasm and insults but the argument from both sides came across clearly.

Tracy aka Sumiko is well known to the vets. Her threads are the longest as she repeats and repeats the issue in order to elicit the most number of responses/posts. It is a common approach by journalist and researchers to gauge the feeling on the ground. A few Singaporeans are generally cautious of airing the views freely and need to be prodded and thus she throws out ridiculous comments such as 2 hr bus rides in order to draw responses.

If you have followed her, the underlying theme is usually national policies. In this the subsidy and preference given to FT. One of her pet topics in the old SBF was the SAF. Every now and then she will drop a line or a comment that indicates that she is indeed playing the fool and not the fool.

Frankly I am sure all Singaporeans in this forum and in the particular thread as a matter principle will oppose any form of special treatment or preference accorded to FTs. That again is common sense.

Accommodation in any tertiary institution around the world is always done on the basis of accommodating students who are constrained by distance. Tertiary Institutions are not in the business of providing accommodation. It is there to attract those who are keen to attend but are challenged by distance. A student from Malaysia is likely not to apply for an Institution if accommodation is an issue while Singapore student is less likely to place priority on accommodation in the application stage.

I am sure this after all is common sense.

The host doesn't help matters either. He's one of the rudest hosts I've ever come across. He hardly ever has a kind word for anyone. All his damned posts are peppered with sarcasm, ridicule and contempt.

Spoken as it is as, what has been and will be, the true colour of the Host.

Nothing change it will always be the same.:D:D:D

she is expecting those students from other country like Thailand to ride motorbike up and down the whole malaysia everyday to study in sg.

Is RP built for local students or foreign students?

Sammyboy forummers have a bad habit: They attack the poster, rather than attack the issue.

This behaviour pattern is most clearly seen in TracyTan866's threads. See http://www.sammyboy.com/showthread.php?t=87279 for just one example.

In that above thread, TracyTan866 raised the issue of polytechnic hostels rented to foreigners only, but banning SG students from renting hostels. This is discrimination against Singaporeans in favour of foreigners.

However, a few forummers who posted there, even though many have in the past professed to be pro Opposition, they instead criticized TracyTan866 and even sided with PAP.

wikiphile for instance made nonsensical comment about foreign student hailing all the way from Thailan and Laos, and thus they should be entitled unlike SG student who come from Pasir Ris. This is fucked up.

silverfox said: "Eh hello, what's the big deal from marine parade but study at RP. He is the one who chose the school. If he wants to be nearer, go and study at Temasek Polytechnic."

Other forummers who posted in the same thread did not make any helpful comment at all.

NONE OF THE FORUMMERS CRITICIZED THE PAP. This is truly surprising.

It is well known that some forummers don't like TracyTan because they think she is butch/lesbian/fake female.

This however is an example of attacking the poster but not attacking the issue.

and you are complaining about others when you have been displaying the same mentality?

How ironic.

By attacking PAP non-stop withing examing the issue and make logic sense about it, you are also been personal ( towards PAP) and not focusing on the issue.

I find this really amusing, the title of this thread is "Sammyboy forummers attack the person rather than the issue" yet your very first post is accusing others of not lambasting at "PAP", but not mentioning much about the "issue". :D:D:D

I think you should rename the thread "Sammyboy forummers attacks brainless pple with stupid complains but not PAP" :D:D:D

Hah, was about to say a lot do suspect her to be Sumiko. Any news what happened to her?

How does he know Tracy is Sumiko?
Very interesting! Can anyone confirm:)

Only a suspicion most forumner have in here. She never confirmed or deny. Usually when someone asked, she would just stay silent and "disappear" for a while.

What to do, even scroobal does that, turning many people off from participating in the forum.
