A Stomp reader was left flabbergasted after spotting a huge personal mobility aid (PMA) onboard an MRT train.

Stomper L, who submitted a video of the incident, said the oversized PMA was seen on the train travelling from Jurong to Woodlands on the North-South Line at around 7.10am on Dec 9.

"How did this super big PMA get through the MRT train?" he asked.

"Didn't the Land Transport Authority (LTA) or SMRT staff check?

"Other passengers couldn't even bat an eyelid as you could see from the video."

The sight of the bulky PMD taking up significant space in the train cabin raised eyebrows, especially given the rules governing the size and type of devices that can be brought onto public transport.

According to LTA, PMAs on public transport should not exceed 120cm in length, 70cm in width and 150cm in height.

The total weight of the PMA together with the user should not exceed 300kg.

The Stomper added: "I wonder how it got in. SMRT staff didn’t find it odd?"

The total weight of the PMA together with the user should not exceed 300kg.

This woman alone already weighs more than 300Kg so how is she supposed to use the MRT? This is discrimination of the highest order.

PMDs are small, light and nimble. On the other hand a car cannot avoid a pedestrian as easily as a PMD can and serious or injury or death is usually the end result.

These videos prove that cars are far more dangerous compared to PMDs.

SINGAPORE – A 33-year-old man was taken to hospital following a hit-and-run accident involving a personal mobility device (PMD) in Yishun on Feb 6.

In response to queries, the police said they were alerted to the accident involving a pedestrian and a PMD in Yishun Ring Road towards Yishun Avenue 9 at around 11.45pm.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said the pedestrian was taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. He was conscious at the time, the police added.

In a video posted on Facebook page SG Road Vigilante on Feb 7, which has since garnered over 112,000 views, a man, with one foot bare, is seen lying face down on the road next to a divider.

A person in a black shirt and white shorts then walks to the PMD lying on its side in the middle of the road, and tries to pick it up before tripping over it.

He then moves it to the side of the road before picking up some items from the middle of the road.

A short while later, another person approaches the man lying on the road.

The video also shows a photo of an ambulance and police officers at the scene.

Police investigations are ongoing.

The Microsoft co-founder also talked about how tripping on acid had him thinking about code.

Bill Gates has some thoughts on AI.
Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates is on a book tour for his recently released memoir, Source Code: My Beginnings. He made a stop on The Tonight Show and shared some of his thoughts on how AI will transform society in the future.

Fallon asked Gates about the pros and cons of AI on Tuesday, and the Microsoft co-founder's answer gave the show host some pause after asking if humans will no longer be needed. Gates went on to explain that humans won't be used for "most things" as AI becomes more incorporated into everyday life.

"Well, we'll decide," Gates said. "You know, like baseball. We won't want to watch computers play baseball. So there'll be some things that we reserve for ourselves, but in terms of making things and moving things and growing food, over time, those will be basically solved problems."

That answer might have been a bit of a downer for some people, especially with the rising concerns of AI taking away jobs, which is happening already according to one study from last year. Gates did want to emphasize that once AI becomes commonplace, it will solve a variety of issues.

"The era that we're just starting is that intelligence is rare," Gates said. "And with A.I., over the next decade that will become free. Great medical advice, great tutoring. And it's kind of profound because it solves all these specific problems, like we don't have enough doctors or, you know, mental health professionals, but it brings with it kind of so much change."

This pedestrian is extremely lucky to have been hit by a PMD. Had he been hit by a car he could well be dead.

A two-year-old girl was allegedly knocked down by a food delivery rider on a shared path at Yishun Avenue 2 on Feb 9 morning.

Stomper MM said the girl was standing at a corner and not even running.

Sharing a video of what happened after the accident at 11.30am, the Stomper said the man refused to apologise and wouldn’t allow the girl's mother to take photos of his e-bike's plate number or give his contact details.

"He said he was not afraid if we report him to the police," recounted the Stomper.

"He went off, saying it was a waste of his time."

Sharing photos of the girl's wounds, the Stomper said she suffered injuries on her head, body and leg.
