The 1st Malaya Infantry Brigade, comprising the British 2nd Loyal Regiment under Lieutenant Colonel Mordaunt Elrington, the 1st Malaya Regiment commanded by Lieutenant Colonel J. R. G. The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) is promoting 464 officers from the Army, Navy and Air Force to the next higher rank this year. These officers include regulars and Operationally-Ready National Servicemen. The promotions take effect from 1 July 2009.

At a promotion ceremony this evening, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean and Chief of Defence Force, Lieutenant-General Desmond Kuek, presented certificates of promotion to officers promoted to the ranks of Colonel and above, and officers promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel respectively.
Five Colonels were promoted to the rank of Brigadier-General or Rear-Admiral (One-Star) this year.
