So the Ukrainians have lost the war ?

Nah. Both sides have admitted that Bakmut wasn't a strategic city. So the Ukrainians will fall back, regroup and then fight again with Russia at another town with the same intensity. Let's see if Russia can afford to lose so much men and equipment at every town they besiege.

Ukraine is losing 8x more men than Russia. That is why they need to conscript under 18s and above 60 year old males to fight.

I hope Putin annexes the whole of Ukraine and wipe that name off the map forever.

I've been asking PAP to allow Russian or Ukrainians to work as domestic helpers for so long but they refuse. I offer good employment terms like loose and light clothing while doing their jobs. Will even pay more vis-s-vis Indonesian maids.

And if they are willing to do extra tasks outside of their job descriptions, can earn lots of OT and bonuses.

Stupid PAP. A happy household will continue to vote for them.

It’s a slow grind that Biden and Europe can ill afford. Putin has all the time to pick his next target and Ukraine will shred more weapons and money. The wider taxpayers are paying as a result. Vote Biden out.

KYIV: Kyiv scorned Russian claims to have captured eastern Bakhmut on Monday (Apr 3), saying its foes had raised a victory flag over "some kind of toilet" and that Ukrainian forces had repelled nearly 20 attacks along the city's front line in the last 24 hours.

The battle for the mining city and logistics hub of Bakhmut has been one of the bloodiest of the conflict, now in its second year, with many casualties on both sides and the city largely destroyed by bombardments.

Yevgeny Prigozhin, head of the Wagner mercenary force spearheading the siege, said on Sunday his troops had raised a Russian flag on the city-centre administrative building even though Ukrainian soldiers still held some western positions.

"From a legal point of view, Bakhmut has been taken," said Prigozhin, who has previously made premature claims.

But Ukraine's military said fighting was still raging around the city council building, as well as in other nearby towns.

"Bakhmut is Ukrainian and they have not captured anything and are very far from doing that," Serhiy Cherevatyi, spokesperson for the eastern military command, told Reuters.

"They raised the flag over some kind of toilet. They attached it to the side of who knows what, hung their rag and said they had captured the city. Well good, let them think they've taken it," Cherevatyi added by telephone.

The Ukrainian armed forces General Staff said in an evening statement 45 enemy attacks had been repelled in total in the last 24 hours, with Bakhmut at the "epicentre of operations" along with the cities of Avdiivka and Maryinka further south.

"The enemy is attempting to take under full control the city of Bakhmut," it said on Facebook. "Ukrainian forces repelled nearly 20 enemy attacks along the front line."

John Kirby, a spokesperson for the US National Security Council, told reporters in Washington that Ukraine was still fighting hard for Bakhmut, describing the battles as "quite, quite violent and quite close".

"Even if the Russians do get it, it isn't going to change the battlefield dynamics from a strategic perspective," he said.

Reuters could not verify the battlefield reports.

FINLAND TO JOIN NATO
Lying on the edge of a chunk of Donetsk province under Russian control, Bakhmut had a population of 70,000 before Moscow invaded Ukraine in February last year.

Russian forces, bogged down in a war of attrition after a series of setbacks, are seeking a victory from their winter offensive but have suffered huge casualties around Bakhmut.

Ukrainian military commanders have said their own counteroffensive - backed by newly delivered Western tanks and other hardware - is not far off but have stressed the importance of holding Bakhmut and inflicting losses in the meantime.

Finland, which shares a 1,300-km border with Russia, will join NATO on Tuesday, marking the completion of a swift journey into the Western military alliance following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, officials said.

In response, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said Russia would strengthen military capacity in its western and northwestern regions, state-owned news agency RIA reported.

"In the event that the forces and resources of other NATO members are deployed in Finland, we will take additional steps to reliably ensure Russia's military security," he told RIA.

In warnings to the West against arming Ukraine, Russian officials increasingly play up the risks of nuclear weapons being used in the war, and last month said they would station tactical nuclear weapons in neighbouring Belarus.

Bakhmut holds no strategic value to both sides, but serves a purpose for each side - For RUS, it was intended to keep the UKR military busy defending that town fighting against expendable mercenaries, while the main RUS army focus on conquest Donbass & hold Crimea. For UKR, it is intended to destroy each & every RUS troop fighting there - body bag count, attrition war, while the main UKR defends Donbass region.

In terms of success, the win & Human logic goes to UKR, because RUS DOES NOT have the capability & ability to SUSTAIN the war with ammo & worst-troops. RUS claims to have millions of soldiers, but so too does it have numerous borders to protect, & cant simply move all its troops to UKR. It tried conscription, but it had been a proven failed endeavor, with little trained troops, low morale, drunkenness, etc.

On the UKR side, it has a population of 43Million, & EACH is a soldier, motivated to defend their homeland, along with support from 7 Billion Humanity whom will NOT bow to dictators or conquerors. To do so would mean their way of life, jobs & freedom will be gone, as policies from dictator's rules are by whims of fancies. If RUS is not stopped now, it will only swallow up the rest of the World, as it tried to do by economic means in the early stages of the RUS invasion into UKR, which failed. How many more Russian youths is RUS going to send to their deaths?

RUS knows the truth & is desperate to end the war, but only on its own foolish terms - annexation of UKR lands. The longer it holds out, the worse it will be for RUS leaders, & they know it. Even a Quantum Logic Processor, while not entirely accurate, but with all factors as individual integers mathematically calculated using various Quantum Mechanics algorithms, will still provide a range of possibilities & each outcome shows failure of the invasion, not to mention further harm done to Russian civilization if it does not end the invasion now.

Perhaps RUS leaders should learn from China, how it WALKED AWAY from embarrassing National Defeat ( War against COVID - HUGE losses to its economy & Human lives, with COV still existing & merrily evolving as it had done for millennia ) & yet not only managed to hold on to power, but secured another leadership term & saw its economy revived.

Should RUS leaders walked away from UKR, give up on conquest & annexed UKR lands, it will still hold on to power like China, & with a few sincere moves to end sanctions, will see its economy revived.

I think majority of humanity sides with the underdog. Which is russia.
Nobody can understand reason for NATO expansion eastward. Russua was never a threat. They were embracing a prosperous EU snd supplying it with energy.

From the news, it looks like Russia is losing a lot more men than Ukraine. Russia is still using WW2 tactics of sending human wave attacks, trying to destroy a meat grinder by choking it with too much meat.

Whatever. They're winning unless big bully USA wants to send in their own boots.

But that's unlikely since Ruskies bombed the underground NATO operations center in Ukraine that was full of western officers. It's a message from Russia to NATO:
We know where your officers are and can take them out at any time.

Weird way for Russia to win, throwing away 5 Russian lives for every 1 Ukrainian.

This fake news below? No hard evidence to prove anything. Russia's getting desperate to score a win.

To minimise civilian casualties.

Russia is maximizing their own civilian casulties. By now, most of the Russian frontline troops are civilians conscripted to replace the dead soldiers in Russia's elite units.
