Doing what he likes, playing football. Any reason why MINDEF so hush hush about this?
SINGAPORE: A 31-year-old regular serviceman of the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) died last month in the US state of Idaho, where he was attached to the Mountain Home Air Force Base.
David Chan Kok Leong, who was an engineer, died on 28 September in hospital, according to an obituary published in the Idaho Statesman on 29 September.
Channel NewsAsia understands that he collapsed during a soccer match which was not related to his RSAF training.
A Facebook posting by one of Chan's friends said he had an accident during the match. He then went into a coma and died.
From several Facebook postings, it was clear the serviceman was a soccer fan and supported Manchester United.
His body now lies in the Rost Funeral Home at Mountain Home, said a spokesperson for the home.
