This is Singapore. We take no chances, especially after 911. Saving lives is the most important factor in the decision process by elected legislators.
SIA since its inception only sought to be a safe & pragmatic air transport for consumers. Any accolades are won by the kind of service it offers & can only be bestowed by customers upon SIA & us Singaporeans, whom will not be complacent & will only figure better ways to serve all & grow our treasury.
Referring back to the incident, as the aircraft was flying in both international & others' national airspace, there were OTHER sovereign nations' armed fighter jets in the air during that time. They would had NO hesitation to shoot down the SQ plane as the bomb threat would had to be notified to others under international law. At the Changi Airport operations control room, decision makers would had a hard & tense time to prove to other nations that our SQ flight is no longer a threat, based upon investigations by both air & ground operators, unknown & will probably be unknown by many armchair critics.
Our brave RSAF fighter jet pilots were not only to escort our own SQ plane into Changi, but also to show & prove that we had the means, the ability & the will to protect civilians into our own airspace, & do what is necessary if needed.
May the abusive passenger face justice for the unnecessary uproar he had created, be punished & be a lesson to any other moron whom want to put other innocent lives into danger & terror.
