Its good to see Roy is getting support and has reached close to $50K, I suspect that it will go way past this mark. It will help him handle the aggravated damages which should be hefty.

Something I suspect that many are not aware based on the posts in various forums is that this trial is not about the defamation. He has admitted to that and apologised. It is closed matter. It is whether he aggravated the situation by his subsequent conduct and the amount of aggravated damages should the court find in favour of the plaintiff.

It is going to be tough as one or more persons that he sent the 2 emails to had provided it to the plaintiffs side as well as how to how to access the original material and the video.

What is certain to happen is that unlike the matter where Father said bring it on and dragged his son the PM into it and was prepared to face CSJ, this time around, Davinder will ensure that his client spends little time on witness box or when he does, there will be objections left and right. Ravi will not get the chance that CSJ did as old man forced the court to allow that leeway.

The fact that he can raise that much from so many people within 3 days is not only remarkable but the biggest damage is that to the PM. It shows that people are behind Roy. I was heartened to see even $2. It tells me that people take the trouble to come forth and give even if they are short at their end.

Don't think it would be that high. Even though the High Court is only for claims of $250K and above, what the judge awards need not necessarily be over $250K. The judge can even award a derisory $20K.

Their actions is not going generate more fans, but is fanning displeasure from people who had long supported them & many have gone over the other side or going over. It is not the amount of money that one gives....but the chance to show that middle finger to those, who thinks that, people are pushover. Roy is an idiot...period. but CPF is a grave concern...we cannot trust any government holding on to any pension money.

He is suing a blogger but has not personally made any comment or statement on the matter. If Roy is insignificant and invisible to him, why bother in the first place.

Politically any amount above $100k is damaging. The optimum amount would have been $30k to $40k which works out to about 1 years wages. This would have sent a stern message without making the Courts/PAP look bad.

Unfortunately Roy has raised over $50k. To settle for the original intended amount would be a de-facto loss. My guess is that they will go for whatever Roy manages to raise +$30k to $40k. It seems almost a holy commandment that Roy must be made to directly suffer that amount of financial loss.
