The New Paper
by Maureen Koh
EACH time she opens her mouth, dethroned Miss Singapore World Ris Low seems to be digging a bigger hole for herself.
Ris admitted she was doing all this to “get back at Miss Lee for exposing her credit card crime to the media”.
Now, that’s really a low blow, Miss Low. Not to mention immature and vindictive.
Hardly the sign of a repentant person, is it?
By the way, it wasn’t Miss Lee who tipped off The New Paper about Ris’ conviction and sentence of 24 months of supervised probation.
Then again, does the identity of the whistle-blower matter?
Why is Ris looking for someone to blame when she should be looking at herself?
It was she, after all, who committed the crime and then tried to cover it up.
Real beauty, as they say, is not in the face, but a light in the heart. Ris should focus on winning over her detractors in the right way – by proving she has the mettle to walk through this dark period with her head held high and emerge a better person.
I fully support my colleague’s suggestion to make her Miss Yellow Ribbon, Miss Silver Ribbon, Miss Pink Ribbon. The only words from Ris that most of us would prefer to hear are simply “I am sorry.”
But if she shoots off her mouth again, these ribbons could come in useful.
