Big Box has been dead long ago. Most people use it as a 'bridge' between JEM and the hospital.

The Muslim/Indon restaurant on Level 2 has also closed.

The ground floor supermarket has been vacant long ago. Even before that, signs of its imminent demise were observable: many cashier lanes closed, one corner of the ground floor opposite the supermarket converted to a playground for kids, enquiry counter on the ground floor beneath the escalator removed.

Level 2 and 3 still selling shitty furniture; the mall owner's original trade is selling furniture.

Poor mall management, and hard to compete with the Capitalmall cartel nearby.

I think it’s the concept that failed.
But generally most Malls in Sg are on IV drips

Too many malls for a small island. Back in the day an outing to the mall was something you had to plan for the weekend. And you had to go downtown to Plaza Singapura or to Parkway Parade in the east.

Never been there before and now going rip.

I work around Jurong East IBP. If Big Box has converted itself to cater for expatriate Indian cuisine, and vegetarian Indian food, it would be doing a thriving business. There's a huge community of us at IBP.

Formerly the old Hollywood Theatre and Lion City Hotel? Couldn't even leave those vintage stuff alone.

Yalor. One of my favourite claypot rice haunt taken away. KNN. Sometimes old buildings have more soul and are more happening than brand new malls which are a dime a dozen..
