The ah tiong strike last week, get arrested.

The ah nehs also wanted to strike, but saw consequences, and yet no avenue to seek redress. So maybe they did this?

Re: JUST IN: Major incident at Jurong Shipyard

Most of the time, they practised pay peanuts get primates. You delay payment for 3 months and above, quality of work also compromised. Don't forget about the sleaze dealings going under the desk. Who care about the sub-cons when JSL sacrificed their payment for showing profit on books?

yes, this one still happening now in modern age!!! not only in shipyards and other GLC too. hold back payment for contractors and contract workers, dare to tell people wait 3 mth. KNNBCCB! when they take money immediately, when give money wait 3 mth.

yes bro, pap thought cover all angle. everything got procedures, standards, sop and QC to make sure slaves are doing an excellent job while getting fed with peanuts!!! even came out with temporary provision in law to prosecute them legally in the court of law.

when people not happy and no avenue to seek redress, they will cock things up for u. u can sack them or even charge them. but those things in their heart never change and the hardest to win if you r not sincere. we local also the same, vote them out!!!

You are very wrong, I have spoken to two ex-retired shipyards BLUE COLLARED workers who lived near me, men in their late 60's to 70's, weather wizened face, sun browned tight skins, shuffling around, but still tough, interesting to hear then talk about their days in the shipyards & tales on how they were phased out, our own people for they were getting expensive etc..

yeah! while chatting with a old and tough security guard at one condo, used to work as welder in shipyard. he told me OT in shipyard, can fetch $400 per day! imagine that was during 80's and 90's!!! its dangerous to weld in the narrow and stuffy area, u dunno what kind of gas build up in the confined area. so you should compensate justly, not get some cheap and untrained mama to die inside. mama also slower because not skillful and cock up big time when vessel start leaking. it happened before! left and come back due to leaking and gotta find out where is the leak to patch it. why can't they just say better and faster? if someone who can't complete O levels and willing to risk his life to get a job well done, why not pay him justly?

Yah! one idiotic mama plug in his arc welding machine into the electrical plug in the warehouse caused a shut down in the power room & kicked in the back up, which incidentally failed & was just passed & inspected by ____ ( shhh! too embarrassed to name that agency), I nearly welded that mama to the warehouse floor... so i understand that shipyard welder concern..that idiot never checked the voltage.
