A video of a bullying incident at Assumption Pathway School has stirred anger among netizens.
The video shows at least four girls surrounding another girl and taunting her in what appears to be a toilet. At several points, they hit her with a toilet brush and also drape a toilet bowl cover around her neck.
The video has been shared more than 200 times as at 4.30pm on Friday (13 April). It has attracted angry comments ranging from “Justice for this girl!!! Find the bullies!” to “Send them to girls home or prison pls.”
It is unclear when the incident took place.
According to its website, Assumption Pathway School (APS) is a Catholic educational institution, which helps students who are “unable to access mainstream schools to have an education”. Students undergo an alternative curriculum that focuses on vocational skills which prepare them for further education and workforce readiness at the Institute of Technical Education (ITE).
In response to queries from Yahoo News Singapore, APS principal Eric Leong said that the offenders in the video had been identified and “immediate disciplinary action” taken against them.
“We are also working with their parents to ensure that the offenders are made aware of the serious consequences of their behaviour, and that they will not repeat such behaviour. We are also providing counselling and continued support to the victim.”
He added, “The actions in the video are unacceptable. We take a strong stand against bullying, and teach our students to care for others.”
Yahoo News Singapore has reached out to police on whether police reports have been lodged on the incident.
