Yup, that's one way of looking at it but it opens up a whole new can of worms.
1. It sets a precedent that will have repercussions on talented youths coming through the academy. If you try hard enough and get the 'right agent', you'll be able to realize riches within a short space of time. I can't recall any 23 year old footballer earning as much as 200-250K pounds per week in Europe or anywhere else.
2.Carrick and Ibra replacement is on the cards. Methinks it's better to keep your powder dry rather than splash all of it in one season. It may be tv plus sponsors money but at the rate of expenditure, it's simply not sustainable. Other selling clubs would demand even more from United from hereon. It could lead to a two tier pricing system where the top British clubs will have to pay way in excess of valuation.
3.The cheque book manager will likely ask for more cash next season if he fails to land the EPL or FA Cup. It's the easy way out for managers who want to spend their way to success rather than develop young talent.
4. Assuming Pogba signs a 5 year contract, it will cost the club between 30-33 million pounds per year. The losses may be huge if the player decides not to extend his contract by the third year. How much did we lose on Di Maria again??
Pogba is a very good player but there are other talents out there and pound for pound,he's not in the same class as Di Maria or others for that matter. He'll do a Di Maria in 3 years or at a time the manager gets the sack whichever comes first. At least Man City has the good sense of telling the player and agent to bugger off when they came calling.
