Doctors at two clinics said the injured worker should be sent to hospital. Instead, Chelladurai Lenin, 47, was dumped on the roadside after he passed out.
His mobile phone was used to call 995. Chelladurai's employer then said over the phone that he had seen somebody lying along Upper Changi Road East.
Paramedics pronounced the Indian national dead.
On Monday, the employer, Tay Kok Eng, 56, admitted to depositing a dying person and employing Chelladurai as a general worker from August 2009 to March 2010 when he had reasonable grounds to believe he was an illegal immigrant.
