Apple doesn't want market share. Apple wants profitability. Once margins are eroded on a product, Apple moves on to invent new products which it sells at a premium.

EVEN as hundreds of legitimate users queued for hours to buy Microsoft's new Windows 7 software at its official launch here on Wednesday night, many others did not even move from their computers to get it, downloading bootleg copies off the Internet. The software, which manages a computer's operations, is currently the top software download on popular file-sharing sites like Mininova and IsoHunt, both of which have had bootleg copies available since Tuesday. According to the sites' statistics, thousands of users are downloading the operating system, even now. Microsoft's office here has also seen online users on popular local forums discussing ways to download the software giant's first operating system since 2007's Windows Vista, said a company spokesman.

Illegal downloads are easily available and convenient, said software industry watchdog Business Software Alliance's (BSA) senior director of anti-piracy, Mr Tarun Sawney. According to the BSA, some 36 per cent of computers here last year were running pirated software, a small decrease from 37 per cent in 2007 and 39 per cent in 2006. So far, the Internet appears to be the only way to get the bootlegs, said a Microsoft spokesman, who noted: 'We have not seen retailers selling (physical) bootleg copies.'

I have 4 OS

Win vista 32 bit, win xp 32 win vista ultimate 64 bit and windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. I got 2 of these OS for free and i have valid licenses for them.

Win 7 seems faster than vista to me, but just slightly.

After sp2 is installed unto both vista's they start up pretty quick.

I sometimes need to use vista when new games don't seem to run properly on windows 7. Like PES 2010 for eg even with compatbility settings on win 7 it does not look that nice so i'm installing on vista 64 bit. Btw i don't have page file on both my 64 bits cos i have 8GB system ram.

My windows xp is the worst performing OS.

Its Strange that piracy is not such an issue for Apple's OS.

Could it be that people are put off by Microsoft's high prices & inferior quality

i.e.- Apple: Only suckers need apply.

The only Apple product I'd recommend to anyone are their top of the range tower models. It's the core product that was the foundation of the company for many years.

The rest of Apple products suck. They sell because of the perceived "cool" factor and slick marketing.

Well if Apple attached a 50" display screen as good as a plasma, at a side of the Apple tower, I am sure many people would not mind hanging the whole tower on their walls.

The trend is LED LCDs which have brighter screen, skinny form factor & low power requirements.

the world's slimmest TV?

To be exact, Samsung LED 55" series 9 is only 1.5 cm thick and it consumes only 8% of what a plasma TV of similar size
