Ned help about Australia. Not been there for a long time so need those who can help me give me some updates. Thank you in advance whoever is helping

1. Do Australia accept Singapore driving license? Do I need an INternational Deiving Permit?

2. For rental car can I pickup the car at Sydney and drop off in Melbourne? Any good company to suggest?

3. Planed to do the coastal drive from Sydney to Melbourne, any good factory outlet along the way?

Too much brandy so just 3 questions first. Thanks again.

Have to agree about comprehensive coverage. Although it's more expensive it can be very handyl. When I had a flat tire, they gave me a replacement vehicle as part of the coverage.

#1 double confirmed. I survived with sinkie DL on my driveabout in WA, did the Albany/Margaret River route -and even got a speeding ticket to brag about :o

When hiring cars, asked for interstate coverage and how many KMs. Nowadays they give unlimited kms. And you can drop the car off in Melbourne as well.

hi, mate,

1. they do accept s'pore driving licence.

2. yes, you can drop off at the airport. i recommend this one
http://www.budget.com.au/default.aspx

btw, it's cheaper to go online and book rather than on the spot. they have free upgrades of car and so on...it applies to most car rental companies.

3. i find the factory outlet not as cheap and the goods they sell are out of date.

cheers..

I have a few more questions please help me.

I understand that Australia is very anal as far as bringing food into the country is concerned however what if I need to bring some supplements in the form of powder that looks like ENO but in a plastic jar and also another mike powder like product also in plastic jar? Are these allowed? Should I declare first when asked? All come with original packing with brand and instructions etc etc.

To make things simple, simply declare ALL the foodstuff you have on a printout and hand it over to them and let them go through item by item.

If it is in the original container and is still sealed, it should not be a problem but I can't promise everything. I've had experiences where food which is allowed by one customs officer is forbidden by another. It's a matter of how they interpret their manual.

As you can see, the list is so complicated it requires a PhD to understand.

Good idea, I shall declare everything and let fate takes its course. Thank you.

I had look through the first list and yes its complicated however it did also mention if its for personal consumption and less than 3 months of dosage its ok, that's for medicine.

Don't forget to also come clean with your blue pill stash (or you have grounded same to your Eno powder?) :p

If you have any prescription medication, I suggest you get a letter from your doctor or a copy of the prescription. Again it all depends upon whether they have reasons to be suspicious of you.

At immigration, they will ask you some very innocent sounding questions like ..."What are you planning to do in OZ".

If you can tell them exactly what you are going to see, which cities you will be traveling to, the route you are going to take, then they will know that you are a genuine tourist.

If you can't give any details regarding your itinerary, they will suspect you of entering the country to work illegally.

I believe you have to pay more for car rental if you return it in another city. Aussie customs super strict. Declare all, let them decide.
