Attended a CNY dinner last Thursday organized by Teochew clan associations. Was elated to see some Punggol East residents among the guests. CNY is coming to an end and I hope everyone has had a good one smile emoticon

'The government should also look at lowering the eligible age to facilitate mid-career changes which was the objective of this program. By doing so, Singaporeans have the opportunity to build up their expertise earlier and thus better contribute to the workforce. This is especially useful for women who become mothers and wish to change their career paths in order to spend more time with their children. The median age of mothers at first birth was about 30.4 and 30.5 in 2012 and 2013 respectively. So it would be reasonable to lower the eligible age to 35 so that the scheme can benefit more Singaporeans who would be looking to make that mid-career shift.'

I acknowledge that it is important to set aside sufficient funds for retirement. At the same time there are immediate financial concerns such as housing and education. How can they possibly think about a comfortable retirement when they are still struggling with home loans and ensuring their children have a good education?

[h=1]2015-02-28: Lunar New Year Dinner 2015[/h]Updated about 2 weeks ago

Held at the open field beside Blk 178A Rivervale Crescent, residents of Punggol East celebrated the 10th day of the Lunar New Year together with MPs Li Lian, Sylvia Lim, Low Thia Khiang, NCMPs Gerald Giam and Yee Jenn Jong, who were ushered in by a dynamic group of lion dancers.

Starting with the traditional ‘lou-hei’ and 'yum-seng', residents were treated to a night of various energy-charged performances ranging from the mythical face changing, fast-paced chinese new year songs performed by a chinese wind ensemble, traditional dances from some very adorable kids, traditional chinese opera and dances, jaw-dropping wushu performances, as well as lucky draws.

Residents would also recognise Azman, our very own special guest and PE constituency committee member, who serenaded and wowed the crowd with a Cantonese love song '每天爱你一点’.

All in all, it was a lovely and cooling night which we hope everyone enjoyed. See you again soon for our next event, and here’s wishing everyone Good luck, wealth and health for the coming year of the goat! Huat ah!
