PRs contribute to the CPF of singapore..

as against the common perception that once PRs renounce their PR they will get the full CPF back.. it is not like that ..the gov gives a lot of excuse and a locks a considerable portion of their CPF..

during HDB upgrading PRs bear the brunt of the upgrading cost..

sgpeans always ask why PRs dont take citizenship..
a simple logic will tell it is not use.. for eg indians who become singapore citizens still retain all the rights in India (they are called person of indian origin (PIO)).. they can buy properties..stay indefinitely in india except no voting rights (who cares..)

When they leave, they can take their CPF away anytime. They have no loyality and not stupid either. Singkees will suffer for it.

Thread Starter is a dumb dumb who's foresight is a far as the visibility of Singapore's water

Good for Singapore? Please check before you spout your nonsense. Anyone who declares that they are leaving Singapore for good can withdraw their full CPF... including emigrating Singaporeans.

Here is what a PR told me. He comes to Singapore and pays lower tax. He does not have to fulfill his country's tax obligation because of Singapore's tax treaty. He enjoys all privileges a Singaporean enjoys. When is makes his money, he will leave Singapore, sell his property and take all the money with him; enjoying the social benefits for the age his country offers.

What happens then? The gap in public funding continues to exist (in fact, aggravated) and needs to be filled; there are two choices.. continue to replace the missing FT or place the burden on Singaporeans. Ever wonder why the CPF withdrawal age and minimum sum increases over the years? Or the relentless FT attraction?

Foreigners pay more tax so they can enjoy the benefits in later years. Singaporean supposedly pay less tax and gets no benefits. This is a balanced equation if the population is contained.

But what we have now, is that foreigners are enjoy the good sides of both world. For the equation to be balanced, Singaporeans must be taking the hit from both. Simple mathematics/ economics.. ceteris parabis

So what is the problem.

We can change the law to specify that persons from India, China cannot take out their CPF until 55.

Just like what we are doing to West Malaysians.
