The problem is what type of masks are being used. Surgical masks are pretty pointless, bare minimum is N95. Then again, most people are either lazy, not uncomfortable, or can't be bother to used N95. Another factor is N95 masks are more expensive and cannot be used once it's dirty, wet or being used prolong period for over 8 hours.
By right, people cannot dine out or meetup as well. Removing the masks to eat or drink outside, essentially defeats the purpose of wearing masks. Not mentioning, the symptoms are asymptomatic.
One word of advice just change the masks when it's dirty, wet or over days. It should be fine.
