After delivering pizza to a family, Terence Tan Yan Han called the house as he was interested in the girl who answered the door. Within two weeks, he had sex with the 13-year-old in a Geylang hotel.

A district court on Thursday ordered Tan to serve one-year probation for having sex with a minor. He also has to do 80 hours of community service and his parents pledged a $5,000 bond to ensure his good behaviour.

Tan, now 24 and a waiter, had pleaded guilty on Feb 6.

He committed the offence in February 2009. He was then 20 years old and a delivery boy for Canadian Pizza. His phone call - to the house after the delivery - was picked up by the girl and they had exchanged mobile phone numbers.
