President Nathan's favourite briyani

It's cooked by Mr Allaudin Mohamed (wearing songkok) who does this for charity only.
Singapore, July 14, 2010
Each year, President Nathan and First Lady Mrs Nathan never fail to return to the MUIS Charity Briyani Extravaganza at Khalid Mosque in Joo Chiat.
The delicious briyani cooked by the mosque chairman Mr Allaudin Mohamed has won the hearts of the couple as well as many fans who have come to know about it.
Some even proclaimed that it's the best briyani they have had in Singapore.
But Mr Allaudin would only cook for charity? How to find out his cooking schedule? Call Khalid Mosque.
His briyani was so good that about 4,000 packets were sold - at $10 each - recently, raising about $50,000 for the President's Charity.
The lipsmacking highlight was the mutton, well marinated and braised till tender but not mushy, said those who tried it.
Watch the video below on President Nathan's recent visit to the mosque where he helped to cook the briyani and also savoured this special rice dish.

Briyanis to check out:
If you can't wait to try out Mr Allaudin's briyani, head for the briyani recommended by food critics below.
My personal favourites are Yusof in Geylang Serai food centre, Allaudeen at Tekka food centre and the various Indian regional versions at Chander Road eateries from the opulent Chettinad and Hyderabad ones to the clean-tasting Kerala goat briyani at Swaadhist.
For upmarket eateries, it's got to be Song of India and Rang Mahal (both do a good crab briyani, especially the former).
For recommendations by other critics, check out eateries below:
