女事主姓歐報稱主婦，丈夫姓魏，從事冷氣機生意，夫妻育有年約三歲女兒。昨午一時許，一家三口在大埔太和街市午膳後，歐婦駕駛掛中港牌私家車接載女兒回家，丈夫駕駛另一輛紅色寶馬房車返公司。途中歐婦發現丈夫其中一部手機遺留在車內，遂致電通知他往大埔太和路油站外「交收」。

消息指，歐婦抵達油站外凹位等候，當其夫駕房車到場時，歐婦落車準備交收手機，一名男子走近其車旁，趁機伸手進車內偷走一個名牌手袋，內有銀包及一萬元現金。期間，魏發覺即時喝止，賊人慌忙跳上七人車逃走。目擊者指，歐婦為奪回心頭好，撲向賊車強行拉開車門，賊人懶理事主危險，「篤油」開車，歐婦拚命圖撲進車內，更掹着軚盤與賊人角力，導致賊車撞及附近旅遊小巴。
現場消息指，歐婦成功進入賊車，當時車門仍然打開，賊車飆行時險象環生，歐婦企圖強行踩腳掣，企將賊車煞停，惟力不從心。期間，賊人大叫：「你快啲落車啦！」歐婦回應：「開得咁快，你唔停車我點落車！」這時，魏已駕車窮追救妻，駛至太湖花園對開，魏加速爬頭將賊車閘停。賊人見狀圖開車撞向魏，歐婦嚇得失聲驚叫，一度以為丈夫「冇命」，嚇到全身癱軟，幸而魏有驚無險，更衝前「掹走」賊車車匙，並獲途人協助將疑匪制服，歐婦取回手袋後報警，並返回座駕安慰女兒。
警員接報趕至，將疑匪拘捕，歐婦因腳部擦傷，丈夫則受驚，夫婦需送院檢驗。警員押解疑匪搜查賊車，檢走兩把鐵錘、手袋及銀包，案件列盜竊、瘋狂駕駛及交通意外有人受傷，交由大埔警區刑事調查隊跟進。據了解，有「車Cam」拍下驚險追車經過，並上載到社交網。

43歲歐姓女事主憶述案發經過，當時丈夫正準備上班，她則載著女兒準備回家，但發現丈夫電話漏在自己座駕，故到油站入油，順道將電話還給在後方駕駛紅色私家車的丈夫。歐女指，事發時察覺到男賊有異樣，事後才知悉他專在該處搶劫。當時下車打算將手機交給後車丈夫時，突然遭男賊偷走其放在車上的名牌手袋，丈夫見狀隨即大喝有人接近車輛，並見男賊登上銀色私家車逃走。
歐女續指，當時她認為賊人「應該驚我」，而且賊車未開，加上丈夫在後，故沒有多想便衝上賊車，拉開車門與賊人理論，並大叫「偷野呀小偷呀」。豈料賊人竟不顧安危開車，歐女當時半身懸空在賊車與車門之間約20秒，非常驚險，被迫登上賊車。歐女表示，當時在賊車副座駕位置十分驚慌，車門仍然打開，賊人更試圖推開她，若被推出車外隨時「無命」。賊人操帶口音廣東話稱：「等錢救命，放過我啦」，歐女回應稱：「你停低我先落到車，我乜都畀你」。
歐女指當時丈夫扭軚截車，賊人卻繼續加速撞向丈夫，「差一秒就無命」，令她驚恐大叫。所幸丈夫反應迅速，及時跳車，而她也踩下賊車剎車，惟仍撞傷丈夫手部。丈夫隨即拔走賊車車匙，而賊人則拿出爆竊工具疑想襲擊，幸有兩父子幫忙制伏賊人。
歐補充，當時追賊時未感驚恐，現時回想才「知驚」，女兒亦受驚大哭。她表示當時名牌Coach手袋內的GUCCI銀包有約萬多元現金；自己是家庭主婦，丈夫姓魏，從事冷氣生意。
