They pinked it, but they didn’t shrink it. Less than two weeks before most brands unveil their new timepieces at the Watches and Wonders fair in Geneva, Tudor jumps the gun with a new pink-dialed version of the Black Bay, its signature sports watch.
Beyond its purpose as simply a creative interpretation of the panda-style sports watch – with two black subdials over the lighter, contrasting background – the pink Black Bay is a tribute to some of the brand’s ambassadors: David Beckham chose it for one of the team colors for his Inter Miami CF soccer team; Taiwanese pop star Jay Chou loves and frequently wears the color pink; and it’s the color of the jersey worn by the top rider on any given day in the Giro d’Italia bicycle race, of which Tudor is a sponsor.

All that being said, the watch is still the collection’s standard size, at 41mm wide, which makes it just a tad too big for pink-loving Barbie fans or other female watch lovers. The pink panda Black Bay is not part of the regular catalog. It’s a limited-run piece for now (though not officially a limited edition), so maybe next year, we’ll see something a little smaller.

Aside from the wild color, the watch is a typical Black Bay, with dual subdials, a date window at 6 o’clock and the model’s signature snowflake hands. It has a COSC-certified movement, the caliber MT5813, derived from the chronograph manufacture caliber B01 from Breitling. It has silicon components for longer wear, and an impressive 70-hour power reserve. Like any respectable robust sports watch, it is water-resistant to 200 meters, thanks to screw-down chronograph pushers. The case is steel, and so is the five-link bracelet. The watch comes with a five-year transferable guarantee that Tudor points out is valid without registration or mandatory maintenance checks.
