Yes he is not from super rich family but he is definitely from comfortable middle class family with a father that was four term Republican House of Representative and was given the proper nurturing by his father since young to be a great investor or businessman.
In other words he need not worry of bread and butter issues since young and can put all his energy to focus and excel in whatever field he chose to. He also said it himself in the documentary that his success was a lot due to him being fortunate born a white male in America and he said his sisters were not brought up or groomed in the same way.
“Howard Homan Buffett (August 13, 1903 – April 30, 1964) was an American businessman, investor, and politician. He was a four-term Republican United States Representative for the state of Nebraska. He was the father of Warren Buffett, the famed American billionaire businessman and investor.”
And yet in all of American history,of the 350 million people existing today in USA,and the hundreds of millions who have died in the last two hundred years, there's only a handful of men like him.yes he won the genetic lottery he admits it,being born in America in the west when 6 billion people in the world live in underdeveloped countries, being a white male in America, possessing a skill that is only been useful in an environment such as this......he also forgot to mention he's born with an ability and intellect that's one in a million,in one of the books about buffet,it's mentioned he has a photographic memory,he has the ability to read 3 chapters of a book and repeat it verbatim word for word.
Great men like him will rise to the top of the world no matter where he is born or in what condition.take Vanderbilt for example, born in the pre industrial America,in a time before Henry Ford and mass production or the production line,in the age of iron steam ships and railroads.,before electricity, automobiles.born in a shack with 5 or 6 kids, the only thing in the house was a loom....but his mom proved to be a extremely shrewd and cunning businesswoman though and good with money and Vanderbilt would often go to her for advice in his adult years.he set out when he was 12 to prove himself as boatswain in the rivers and docks of New York.....when he finally died in the 1910s,he's conquered the entire sea and rail transport in North America, crushing the competition every step of the way....he died the richest amn in america with a personal fortune of 200 million, estimated to be 5 percent of America's GDP or 1 out of 20 dollars in circulation at that time.an unimaginable amount of money at that time or any time.....in an age where nobody's heard of conglomerates or monopolies....where there's no rules or laws and no one knew how to deal with entities the likes of him.....he brought a new meaning to a class of Titans whose power and wealth and influence overshadowed even those of governments and nation's.
