Illegal parking rampant in Jurong, but Traffic Police nowhere to be found
A STOMPer called the Traffic Police hotline to report illegally parked vehicles, but no patrol units arrived even after 2 hours of waiting.
Here's what the STOMPer wrote in an email today (Nov 4).
"I called the Traffic Police hotline on Nov 4 at 6:00 am.
"An officer picked up my call and I reported some traffic offences to him clearly and slowly.
"During the conversation, I noticed he was not very attentive and sounded sleepy, so I asked him to repeat my report. He seemed to note down my report only after that.
"The officer I spoke to lacks the attentiveness and commitment required of the job. In cases like this, is a verbal warning enough?
"I have made similar reports before. What I was told is that patrol officers will monitor the situation closely. What exactly does 'monitoring the situation' mean?
"After I made the call, I sat at a nearby bus stop overlooking the illegally-parked vehicles and waited for the patrol unit to arrive, but none came after 2 hours.
"Either the officer didn't really put a call to the patrol unit or the patrol unit itself is the issue. This is really getting out of hand.
"Perhaps a better way to reduce illegal parking is to bring in volunteers with the power to issue summons since the Traffic Police are so slow in responding to calls."
