Police have arrested 3 men, aged between 16 and 20, for theft of motorcycle in the vicinity of Blk 31 Lorong 5 Toa Payoh. The 3 men are also suspected to be involved in 2 other similar cases at Bedok North.

On July 8 2013 at about 8.11 am, the police received a report that a motorcycle was stolen at the vicinity of Blk 31 Lorong 5 Toa Payoh which was subsequently found abandoned nearby.

Officers from the Toa Payoh Neighbourhood Police Centre and Tanglin Police Division managed to establish the identity of the three suspects within a few hours.

The three suspects were arrested at their residences on the same day between 1pm to 6pm. Investigations revealed that the trio are suspected to be involved in the theft of two other motorcycles at Bedok North on July 5, 2013.

Two of the suspects will be charged in Court on July 10 for an offence of Theft of Motor Vehicle with Common Intention under Section 379A read with Section 34 of the Penal Code.

If convicted, they face a maximum jail term of 7 years and shall also be liable to a fine. The third suspect will be charged in Court on July 10 2013 for an offence of Assisting in disposing of stolen property under Section 414 of the Penal Code.

If convicted, he faces a maximum jail term of 5 years or with fine, or both.
