69,000 is a "significant" number. the new target will be 6.831m citizens plus 1.169 pr's plus 2m on work visas and passes. total headcount is 10m plus 1m visitors or tourists on short visas at any one time in sg. that's a lot of urine and fecal matter to harvest for newater and newafer.

This is what will happen. Infrastructure will never catch up with population. The target you can look at is infrastruture for 3.6m people and population 6.9m

Not only that, can the government guarantee the creation of at least 1.5m new jobs to cater to this population increase? I very much doubt so. The future of the current Sinkies' kids looks very doomed indeed.

If I were a sensible parent, I will definitely reconsider having a child since his/her future is most likely to be suffering in this Sinkie Land. So, how to ensure more procreation as called for by the PAPies? Sad lah.

actually, this aging population problem has been identified long time ago and has been achieved by PAP in last 10 years. PAP is just greedy to take in another 1M people into Singapore for GDP growth. This White Papers 造纸白 is crap.

Aging population is a 1 billion baby bommers problem and affected every country. This 1 billion baby boomers will aged between 50y.o to 69y.o in 2015. Australia will have 5M aging population in 2015 far more worse than Singapore of 2.5M.

Have another great big world war, WW3, and recycle the population to create another 1 bil baby boomers.

How often is the government required to report population figures? Every 3/6/12 months?
If they aren't obliged to report the figures at regular and close enough intervals, it is hard for the public to monitor the situation before it gets way out of hand.

Senior Lee already mentioned "stopping at two" is not the cause of Singapore low birth rate.

This typical move of politicians move to blame other when policy they implemented got screwed.

He mention the cause is high education. So does it make sense to stop educating people in a Internet world?

Mr Lee said: "Stopping at two has nothing to do with what's happened. It's happening throughout the developed world. Once you have women educated, with equal job opportunities. they do not see their future as just bearers of children."

He added that he does not see the fertility rate going back to 2.1, the replacement rate which Singapore needs, as this would involve 'diseducating' , or 'uneducating' women, a scenario that was not economically viable.

How come AWARE isn't issuing a critique of this? Basically, he's saying women either screw or be educated.
