Please Help With These Dialect Phrases or Words

Ok, ok:o..........we tone it down:D...........but that's where dialect loses it's soul and colour:(

True, even when some of the HK singers sing their songs in Mandarin to cater to the China and Taiwan markets, they seem to lose some of
the colour.
And songs from the Taiwanese singers that inevitably stick in the head tend to be the menanyu ones.

Imo, the flower crab is used to make a representation about the state, appearance and condition of the cb of whom is being cursed:o

Fah meaning got scratches and blemishes, no longer nice.

Fah Hai......meaning same as Phua Cheeby.......Fai Hai rhymes with Flowery Crab

hi there

1. bro, i bet my last dollar!
2. you are another canto, right!
i spoke cantonese before any other languages....been speaking it all my life. :D
i am not a cantonese chauvinist, i can speak all the other dialects here but i insist all my children must learn to speak the dialect.
i have relatives in HK and parts of Canto but somehow i never feel at home in those places though the lingua franca and food is familiar.
i had my canto pop phase when much younger (your avatar was my idol)....now i keep up with the language watching HK news and serials.
i never watch any HK movies that are dubbed.

Glad that you are in agreement.:)

So can we grow more flowers in your thread and turn it into a flower flower garden:confused::D Maybe turn it into a jungle even:D

But like another forumer said, it will be gone in one or two gen:( All the wit and humour in the dialects in sinkieland, kaput....................thanks to the PAP

Pappies like Wooden can actually speak dialect, in his case hokkien, better than Mandarin.

Who can forget him saying things like "bo tua bo sway, bo kar see" in his rally speeches?

What are the Chinese characters for Tarpor (Guy), Charbor (Gal), Lanjiao (Penis) and Cheebye (Vagina)? Many points for correct answers.

Imo, sori to say this, but we should stop bluffing ourselves.

Like the saying, "Men doing, Heaven is looking" or "Heaven got eyes".

Yah, I believe heaven got eyes since the begining of time, and heaven is looking, looking, still looking and still looking............looking still and still looking......looking until end of time.......still looking..........

Hope you get what I mean:(

.......and still looking, while men doing..........heaven still looking...........looking.......

tee wu mak 天有眼
