Phua Swan Yeow, the owner of Hua Xing Bak Ku Teh 華兴肉骨茶, died on 13 May 2024. He was 48.
A hidden hawker gem in Jurong (at Yuhua Place Market & Hawker Centre) with a multi-generation following for their peppery bak kut teh, Teochew steam fish and asam fish enjoyed with Nanyang tea.
Ah Yeow, as he is more affectionately known, is the second-generation owner of this hawker stall.
He has ran the stall for the last 21 years, after taking over from his father, who, reportedly, founded the stall nearly 40 years ago.
His death is sudden, and it was believed to be due to a blood clot in the brain.
Phua’s funeral wake will take place over a period of three days (from 14 to 16 May) at the void deck of Block 288A Jurong East Street 21.
His cortège will leave for Mandai Crematorium Hall 04 at 10.25am on Friday (May 17).
Rest well, Ah Yeow!
